Why study IT at Monash?

Information technology is the foundation of everyday life in the 21st century. Each new breakthrough changes the way we communicate, work, shop, learn, and entertain ourselves.

IT = Career Opportunity

If you enjoy the challenge of finding solutions to complex puzzles, you wil love IT. You start by dreaming up an idea and then have the pleasure of bringing your creation to life.  While you design and build your product, you will need to anticipate and resolve problems, which requires practical and theoretical skills.  Every project is different and there is always something new to learn. IT processes are easy to rework, adapt and build on.  IT practitioners have such flexible tools to work with, the only limit is imagination.

IT = Career Opportunity

Technology is transforming the every facet of life, including every field of employment.  Today any career, be it in the field of finance, law, engineering, medicine, business, or entertainment, requires a command of technology. Monash IT graduates have careers as medical consultants in India, TV producers in Malaysia, criminal identifiers in Australia, entrepreneurs in Vietnam, oil industry executives in Bangladesh, and software engineers in China. Besides job satisfaction and opportunities, IT degree holders receive attractive salaries.  The Annual Robert Walters Global Salary Survey reports Chief Information Officers earning an average of RM350-RM420,000 a year,  IT Consultants earning RM95,000-RM130,000 a year, and even junior jobs such as Help Desk Support Analysis earning RM40,000-RM45,000 a year.

Information Technology is about making things that are useful to others.
